Projects
Current projects areas for the Chimacum Center include:
ACTIVIST RETREATS
We want to grow fertile and fruitful connections to urban activists, artists and organizers and provide them rural spaces for rest and restoration. We seek cross-pollination of urban and rural relationships.
SOCIAL JUSTICE LITERACY
We currently support local Racial Justice Literacy education in collaboration with BLM JC and Usawa Consulting.
LAND ACCESS
We are supporting a BIPOC community survey of land access barriers and aspirations, as well as research into innovative equity-forward models around the world. We provide farm advocacy and networking resources for Black, Indigenous and People of Color. With a coalition of support from Jefferson Land Trust, Jefferson Community Foundation and others.
FOOD SOVEREIGNTY
We are one of a coalition of partners supporting a grassroots effort to distribute highly nutritious locally grown and produced food to BIPOC community members and those typically economically marginalized from the farm to table food movement.
RURAL ARTS
The Chimacum Center seeks to grow more inclusive and expansive rural culture through the arts and celebration. We are the keepers of the bronze Watershed Bell by beloved late sculptor Tom Jay, on behalf of the Chimacum community.
